After holding the Lions Carnival since 1931, the Port Colborne Lions Club has decided to cancel this year's carnival, scheduled for July 23-26, and their major car draw in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic. We realize that this event is a major social event for the residents of Port Colborne but at the same time, we do not want to put the residents in harm's way with the social distancing measures currently in play. The car draw, a major carnival attraction for the past 75 years, is also being cancelled as we are unable to go out to the public to sell tickets. The cancellation of these two fund raisers will greatly impact the operations of our Club as together they provided about 75% of our revenue. Although the PC Lions are currently not meeting as the Lions Community Centre is closed, the Club executive is in constant communication to see how and what we can do going forward. We urge all members of the community to stay at home, unless you are an essential service provider, need medications or groceries.
