Thank you again, Port Colborne, for your support of our upcoming annual food drive. Once again, hundreds of volunteers will be gathering to canvass the city door to door to collect food and dontations in support of the Port Cares Reach Out Food Center. The Food Center is our cities only food bank, and it supports many families and individuals in times of need. Supplies are very low at the food bank, so please give generously!

Date: Saturday, November the 1st, 2014

Time: Our collection teams begin their routes at 10am - please have your donations out around this time to ensure pick up.

Sorting/Packing Location: Christian Life Assembly Church - 484 Barrick Road

Lions Contact: Jeremy Hamm - 905-327-9799

Collection Barrels: Rural residents, or residents wishing to donate outside of the door-to-door food drive, can utilize our donation drop off locations. In the weeks leading up to the food drive, collection barrels will be in place around town to collect your donations. They will be well marked as food drive donation barrels. They are available at the following locations:

  • Sobeys
  • No Frills
  • Food Basics
  • Killaly St Fire Hall (located in the front foyer)
  • The Mill Greenhouse on Hwy 3

Donations: We will be canvassing door to door to collect food, cash, and Canadian Tire money donations city wide. While any and all help is greatfully appreciated, there is a greater need for the following food items:

  • Juice - Large Bottles/Cans
  • Baby Food/Formula
  • Peanut Butter & Jam
  • Canned Fruits, Beans, Vegetables, and Tomatoes
  • Canned Meat & Fish
  • Baked Beans
  • Pasta & Pasta Sauce
  • Rice & Side Dishes
  • Soap, Shampoo, Toilet Paper & Hygene Products
  • Coffe & Tea
  • Dry Baking Goods

Cash/Cheque Donations and Receipts: Donation receipts are available for any donations made in excess of $20. In order to qualify for a receipt, please make the cheque out to "Port Cares", and write "Food Bank" in the memo line. Please also provide your full name, address, and phone number with the donation to ensure that you recieve your receipt. ALL FINANCIAL DONATIONS COLLECTED DURING THE FOOD DRIVE ARE EARMARKED FOR THE PORT CARES FOOD BANK AND MEAL PROGRAMS.

Volunteers: We welcome volunteers to help us sort and pack donations on the day of the drive, so please mark your calendars! This is an excellent opportunity to join your community in helping to support a worthwhile cause! No registration or sign up is required. Please join us on Saturday, November the 1st starting at 9:30am at the Christian Life Assembly Church at 484 Barrick Road. Stay all day, or stay for an hour - any help is appreciated. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Students will be given documentation and provided with full credit towards their community service hour requirements.

Thank you again for your support, Port Colborne! Please call Lion Jeremy at 905-327-9799 with any questions.
