We put out a call for support, and once again Port Colborne delivered! The 2012 Port Colborne Lions food drive was a tremdous success. Over 300 volunteers converged to help us collect food and cash donations in support of the Port Cares Reach Out Center food bank. Together we collected over 35,000 lbs (17.5 tons) of food, and over $4,200 in cash dontations. This is an increase over last year of 1.5 tons of food, and $1,200 in cash donations. Thank you to our generous contributors for a great showing of support this year!
A great big thank you goes out to our volunteers who helped us collect, sort, and pack our donations. Along with the famillair faces we've seen returning year after year, we also saw a large influx of new volunteers this year. We thank you all for your help, and greatly appreciate the time and effort that you contribute towards the success of the drive year after year.
We would also like to thank our generous sponsers that provide us with the supplies that are needed to conduct the food drive - Brent & Jenny's No Frills, Sobeys, Food Basics, Fontaine's Transport, Modern Waste Management, and West Pier Marine. We would also like to express our appreciation to the congregation and clergy of The Christian Life Assembly Church for the use of their facility and their continued support.
Thank you again, Port Colborne, for helping to help those less fortunate. Next year will be the 20th anniversary of the food drive, and we look forward to working with you all again.
